Contractor Profit Calc

Independent project · low-voltage estimating

From an Excel workbook to a clearer bid decision.

I first built this in Excel to help organize my own bids. As the workflow grew, I began turning it into an application that connects the work being priced with the margin I need to understand before sending a proposal.

01 / Proof of concept

A bid journey, in 20 seconds.

This mock-up shows how someone could move from an opportunity to a final review, with illustrative sliders and sample figures. It presents the idea; it is not a recording of the current application.

02 / A glimpse of the working app

The Install

03 / How it developed

Built from a real estimating need.

The project grew out of the bid work I was already doing. Each version helped me make the process easier to follow and the result easier to review.

01

Excel foundation

A workbook gave me a practical starting point for organizing bid inputs and checking the result.

02

Application prototype

I translated that process into a visual workspace for building and reviewing a bid.

The video communicates the intended experience while keeping the detailed workings out of a public portfolio link.

Beyond the preview

See it work
in person.

I can walk through the working application and show how I use it to build and review a bid during an in-person interview.

The video is a mock-up proof of concept. The workspace image is captured from the working app with sensitive text and values replaced. All displayed project data is illustrative.
